Ranchi, April 15: Former Chief Minister of the state, Hemant Soren, currently incarcerated in connection with a land scam case, has filed a bail petition through his lawyer in the special court of PMLA. The petition is slated to be heard on Tuesday, April 16. Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 31 after extensive interrogation. The arrest was linked to investigations into an alleged scam involving 8.5 acres of land occupied by the army in Bariatu, Ranchi. Soren resigned from his post as Chief Minister prior to his arrest. Following his arrest, he was remanded in ED custody for 13 days and interrogated. Presently, he is lodged in Hotwar jail. Bhanu Pratap, an employee of the Badgai area, is also in judicial custody in relation to the same case. The alleged mastermind behind the fabrication of fake land deeds, Md. Saddam, has also been apprehended and is under ED remand until April 16.
