Health staff seek compensation and job for deceased lab technician

Baharagora: A group of district health department employees took out a procession to demand compensation and job to the next of kin of late Rupesh Kumar, a contract worker employed by the health department, in Baharagora on Friday.

The agitating staff also put up a demonstration before the Baharagora block office and handed over a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Raghubar Das to the block officials concerned. They demanded adequate compensation to the next of kin of Rupesh who was killed in a road accident in Dhalbhumgarh on Wednesday last. Five more people had died in the incident. The mishap occurred as a result of collision between two vehicles. Rupesh worked as a lab technician in Baharagora under Jharkhand State AIDS Control Committee.

Also present on the occasion, the Baharagora MLA Kunal Sarangi said the deceased was a dedicated worker of the health department. He said he would raise the demands put forth by the health staff in the Assembly. The gathering was also addressed by Shyama Prasad Mahapatra of the contract health workers� union.
