Jamshedpur, July 24 : Principal secretary (health) Nidhi Khare on Tuesday inspected state-run MGM Medical College and Hospital at Sakchi, and promised better care for patients in days to come.
During the three hour long inspection and a review meeting with HoD’s she interacted with patients and assured to solve the drinking water, power and other problems reeling the government hospital.
Khare asked authorities to fix time frame for completing the ongoing infrastructure development work at the hospital campus which also includes the new building which has facility of surgery OT, gynaecology, paediatric and anaesthesia units. She also set goals for the doctors and other staff.
“We need to solve every issue. Everyone must owe responsibility. Timelines and goals have been set for improvement in facilities. There are several problems confronting the hospital and we are trying to resolve them,” said Khare talking to mediamen after the review meeting on the hospital premises.
Khare revealed that out of the 29 points which the Medical Council of India ( MCI) had wanted improvements for 100-bed hospital, seven points have been left. ” We need to be prepare for MCI visit. Most of the points have been covered as pointed out by the MCI team. Only seven are left. I have asked the hospital authorities to complete them before the next MCI visit,” she said while referring to a query.
During the last inspection, the MCI team pointed out several irregularities in the functioning of the hospital and the college. The team had directed the hospital authorities to take steps to plug the loopholes within a specified time frame.
Khare during the review meeting asked the hospital superintendent S N Jha to keep things in order and adhere to the MCI-prescribed norms strictly, so that the MCI axe does not fall on any department.
Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar was also present at the meeting.
MGM Medical College and Hospital is a government hospital with the facility of 540 beds. Everyday around 1000 patients come here for treatment. It may be mentioned that State Government governed Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital, is an Indian medical school established in 1964. It is situated in the outskirts of Jamshedpur near Dimna. The college’s hospital is located in Sakchi.
