Jamshedpur: The Health Secretary of Jharkhand, Ajay Kumar Singh, has sought a detailed progress report regarding the shifting of Sakchi’s MGM Hospital to the newly constructed facility at the college campus in Dimna. The directive comes amid growing concerns over delays in meeting the previously set timelines.
The Health Secretary had earlier inspected the hospital on December 19 and instructed officials to complete the relocation between January 15 and January 31. Additionally, he directed the commencement of outpatient services (OPDs) for cancer, neurology and cardiology departments by January 15. However, the slow progress has raised questions about adherence to these directives.
“The shifting process was to begin as per the given timeline, but it has not started yet, which is a serious matter. Hopefully, everything will be completed on time. The problems identified are being resolved to ensure no further delays,” said Ajay Kumar Singh, emphasizing the need for immediate action.
Meanwhile, the college and hospital management have expressed concern over resource limitations, particularly water supply. Doctors highlighted the critical need for sufficient water, noting that an average of 500 liters is required for a single surgery. The construction agency is currently arranging 3,000 liters of water per department, which may still prove insufficient given the hospital’s operational demands.
The Health Secretary’s firm stance has reportedly unsettled the management, which is now under pressure to meet the deadlines. Efforts are being made to address existing challenges, including the availability of resources and the procurement of essential equipment.
The relocation of MGM Hospital to the new facility is expected to significantly improve healthcare services in the region. However, timely execution of the plan remains a priority to avoid further delays.
