Health dept and JNAC plan preventive measures against dengue

Jamshedpur: Taking serious note of suspected dengue cases turning positive in city, East Singhbhum district health department and the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee on Wednesday planned to intensify preventive measures against dengue.

Under the plan, both the health department and the JNAC officials will jointly launch anti-dengue operation across the city. The district surveillance cell of Vector Borne Diseases Control Department has joined hands with the JNAC team.

In this connection, a joint meeting of the surveillance cell and JNAC officials was convened at the JNAC office. Sanjay Kumar, Special Officer, JNAC, said directed all community workers to train women linked to self help groups on dengue prevention.
At the meeting, it was decided to set up four anti-dengue vigilance team to keep a watch on the vulnerable areas. The teams would monitor preventive measures across the city on a daily basis.

The Special Officer asked the flying squad of JNAC to fine people or organizations for neglecting their duties towards preventing dengue and other vector-borne diseases. He said the people should be asked not to keep tyres, boxes, containers and tanks out in the open to prevent breeding of mosquitoes.

Kumar asked the JNAC engineers to plan covered drains and include them while preparing estimates for projects. Open drains should be covered with slabs, he said.
