Hazaribagh Headmaster Booked After 24 Girls Allege Molestation

Hazaribagh: A major scandal has rocked a government school in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district after nearly two dozen girl students accused the in-charge headmaster of molestation and inappropriate behavior.

The case surfaced on April 11 when two students contacted the Child Helpline (1098) to report sexual misconduct at the school, located under the Charhi police station limits. A child protection team and local police immediately launched an inquiry. As the investigation widened, approximately 24 girls stepped forward to record statements before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

The victims described a disturbing pattern of abuse. They alleged the headmaster frequently summoned them individually under the pretext of academic help to touch them inappropriately. Students further claimed the headmaster silenced them for months by threatening expulsion or failing grades if they spoke out.

Following the probe, the CWC confirmed the severity of the allegations and directed police to register an FIR. Authorities have now booked the accused teacher under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant legal sections.

The revelations sparked outrage among parents and villagers, who gathered at the police station to demand the headmaster’s immediate arrest. District officials have initiated departmental proceedings against the educator, while police continue to record formal statements from the affected students to build a detailed case.
