Jamshedpur : National Handicraft Development Corporation Limited is organizing an exhibition in steel city with the view to encourage handicraft and local artisans. Tittled �Silk Fab� exhibition was inaugurated at Bistupur by city DSP Kartik S. As many as 130 organizations from 15 states across the country are participating in the exhibition. Two noted weavers having received national award for special designs will also be there during the exhibition.The exhibition will be held till October 11. It will be open from 11 am till 8 pm. The organizers said there are around 65 lakh people in the country who are directly or indirectly benefitted from the handicraft sector. Handicraft is the second largest sector in the country after agriculture. The role of tradition and family art forms is crucial in the preservation and development of the handicraft sector in the country, said the organizers.The government of India is working on many schemes with a view to encourage the traditional artisans and preserve the handicraft sector. It has started handloom mark scheme with an aim to render a unique identity to the handicraft types. Many varieties of handicraft art are being included in the list of traditional handicraft forms by the government, said the organizers.The handicraft exhibition will showcase various valued products including Kosa Silk, Bomkai, Tasar, Kantha, Madhubani Print, Baluchari, Tangai, Tribal Work, Garhwal, Dharmavaram, Pochampalli, Moonga Silk, Printed silk saris, Gathjod, Patola, Chintamani, Kasturi Work, Karnataka Silk, Chanderi, Maheshwari, Paithani, Puna Sari, Bandhej, Kanjivaram, Tachi, Jamdani and Jamvar or Banarasi.
Mega Trade Fair Canvas India now till October 4
Jamshedpur : In view of the overwhelming response to the trade fair Canvas India has been extended till October 4. About 275 companies from various sectors including automobile, FMCG, construction, IT and Telecom are participating in the Canvas India Mega Trade Fair being held at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur.
Managing Director of Canvas India Jyoti Pandey and president of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the co-sponsor of the fair, Suresh Santhalia said that this is the largest ever edition of the fair with a total of 618 stalls.
Jyoti Kumar, managing director, Concern (India), said that international and national brands and manufacturers are participating in the fair. They are offering new products and products together with attractive discounts and offers.
Companies are overwhelmingly participating in the fair with an aim to offer attractive schemes to customers to boost sales.
