Chandil: The district police team led by Saraikela police station OC Navin Kumar Pandey on Thursday morning at 4 am raided the Swarnrekha River sandbank at Sodo Jargodih and spread out across the whole area seizing in the process a JCB machine and a trailer tractor engaged in illegal sand mining and transportation. Villagers said that the police team arrived at the sandbank in a Haiwa to hoodwink the sand mafias and were successful in their mission. The sandbank is under the Ichagarh police station. The JCB and tractor were taken to the Ichagarh police station. In the evening, the District Mining Officer Sunny Kumar seized a sand laden Haiwa near Tikar. The DMO also raided illegally stacked sand piles in Bamundih and Jargodih sandbanks. Cases have been filed against the owners of the tractor, Haiwa and JCB machine. Those present on the occasion were SDM Ranjit Lohra, SDPO Dhirendra Narayan Banka, CO Abhishek Kumar, OC Kharsawan PS, Ichagarh PS OC Vinod Singh and others.
