Jamshedpur, June 15: The 429th Prakash Parv of Guru Hargobindji, the sixth Sikh Guru, was celebrated with profound devotion and traditional rituals on Thursday at Baridih Gurdwara Sahib. The auspicious occasion witnessed Bhai Manpreet Singh’s group reciting Kirtan, while General Secretary Sukhwinder Singh highlighted the historical significance associated with Guru Hargobindji’s life.

Guru Hargobindji’s Wazir Granthi, Baba Niranjan Singh, led the congregation in prayers, seeking the welfare and harmony of all living beings. To mark Guru Hargobind Ji’s Prakash Parv, a traditional langar was organized, featuring missi roti (gram and wheat mixed flour bread) and refreshing onion lassi, which were served to devotees with deep reverence.

The celebrations also highlighted a significant incident from Guru Hargobindji’s life. On the advice of her husband, the fifth Guru Arjun Dev Ji, Mother Ganga, Guru Hargobindji’s mother, approached Baba Budha Ji seeking blessings for her children. Initially, she arrived with her attendants and servants in royal attire but did not receive the blessings she sought. Following Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s guidance, Mother Ganga personally ground gram and wheat mixed flour in a mill, prepared bread, lassi, and butter. Carrying these offerings and walking barefoot for eight miles, she reached Baba Budha Ji, who blessed her with a child. Baba Budha Ji symbolically broke an onion with his fist, signifying the breaking of enemies in a similar manner.

When Guru Hargobindji became the Guru, he established the revered Shri Akal Takht Sahib and embraced both the temporal (Miri) and spiritual (Piri) aspects of Sikhism. He also formed an army, emphasizing the importance of self-defense and protecting righteousness. Guru Arjan Dev Ji taught that one receives the grace of God through humility, sincere supplication, truthfulness, and simplicity. During the commemorative event, Sardar Satwinder Singh was honored with a Siropa (robe of honor) presented by Chairman Kartar Singh on behalf of the Sangat (congregation). The noteworthy contributions of Pradhan Kulwinder Singh, Giani Kuldeep Singh Khushipur, Sukhwinder Singh Cassier, Balwinder Singh, Jaswant Singh, Vikram Singh, Robin Singh, Jaspal Singh, Kake Singh, Pritpal Singh, Rikshpal Singh, Bibi Deva Kaur, Bibi Balwinder Kaur, Bibi Nirmal Kaur, Bibi Manjeet Kaur, and Bibi Satnam Kaur were recognized and praised for their commendable roles in organizing the event.
