Jamshedpur, Nov. 16 : After a week of the attack on
Sikh leader Gurucharan Singh Billa by bike-borne attackers at Sitaramdera
on last Saturday, the police have arrested Gurmukh Singh Mukhe, president of
Central Gurudwara Prabhandhak Samity (CGPC). Sitaramdera police arrested Mukhe
and brought him to the police station for further investigation.
The injured Billa (50) who is presently
undergoing treatment at the Tata Main Hospital for the gun-shot injuries had
accused three persons belonging to the Sikh community to have conspired the
attack.
Police had filed an FIR against Gurmukh Singh
Mukhe, president of Central Gurudwara Prabhandhak Samity (CGPS).
The police had registered a case of attempted
murder and Arms Act against the three suspects. The statement was made before
the Sitaramdera thana OC, Anjani Kumar Singh.
OC, Sitaramdera said they are probing into the
FIR lodged by Billa. Singh said they are investigating the incident. Mukhe was
arrested as he has been accused in the gun shot incident. He said that the
police will disclose further only after proper investigation.
Mukhe who had always been in controversy in the
steel city for the past one decade was elected the CGPC in 2018 for a three
years term. Notably, Mukhe was in the news a decade ago when he had allegedly
cut his hair in the lock-up of Ulidih thana in Mango and had alleged the police
to have cut the hair for humiliating him and also his community.
