Jamshedpur, Jan 20: The construction of a much-awaited elevated corridor on National Highway 33 (NH 33) for Jamshedpur’s urban area took a significant step forward with the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony held at Dimna Chowk on Monday. The ceremony, marked by an overwhelming turnout of residents, was graced by MP Bidyut Baran Mahto and MLA Saryu Roy.
Addressing the gathering, MP Bidyut Baran Mahto shared the struggles he faced to bring this vital project to fruition. He elaborated on the numerous efforts, including multiple trips to Delhi and his discussions with Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, who provided invaluable support. “This is a significant moment for Jamshedpur and I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his encouragement. My sincere thanks to MLA Saryu Roy, whose guidance has been instrumental,” Mahto said.

MLA Saryu Roy, who also spoke at the event, expressed his belief that the elevated corridor would be a game-changer for Jamshedpur’s infrastructure. “This project will ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity for the people of Jamshedpur. I am proud of MP Mahto’s relentless efforts in making this project a reality,” Roy said. He expressed confidence that the project would be completed within the stipulated two-and-a-half years and hoped to join fellow public representatives at the inauguration.
The ceremony was also addressed by NH Regional Officer NL Yadkar and Project Officer Ekta Kumari. The event was smoothly conducted by Shubhendu Samal.
The elevated corridor, being constructed by HG Infra Engineering Limited, will span a length of 10.21 km and include three ramps along its stretch. The target completion date is set for March 2027.
However, there was a brief delay when the initial banner for the Bhoomi Pujan did not include the names of two JMM MLAs, Savita Mahato and Mangal Kalindi. The construction agency swiftly replaced the banner, incorporating their names, but both MLAs were absent from the event. The ceremony was subsequently held at 12:30 pm instead of the scheduled 11:30 am start.
