Jamshedpur: Efforts to increase greenery in and around Dalma’s foothills are gaining momentum with the Forest Department preparing to establish new parks and create organic forests within a 10-km radius. These initiatives aim to enhance the forest area, improve biodiversity, and positively impact the region’s climate. Preparations for these projects, including plantations and park developments, are well underway, with the work expected to be completed within the current financial year.

Among the projects is a Biodiversity Park near the Harina Temple in Potka. Spanning 28.10 hectares and built at a cost of ₹24 crores, the park will not only increase the forest cover but also serve as a destination for visitors. Equipped with facilities like fountains, ponds, swimming pools, and a labyrinth, it is designed to conserve the environment while providing recreational opportunities.

In Chakulia, an Ecological Diversity Park is under construction at a cost of ₹15 crores. This park will feature entertainment options such as a cafeteria, children’s activity center, and environmentally friendly recreational facilities, ensuring compliance with ecological standards. The project is expected to take one year to complete.

Another project, an Environment Park in Govindpur’s Khakripada area, is being developed on 10 acres. The park will include a dedicated children’s play area, a mud house, a fountain, a rest house, barracks, and a cafeteria. These facilities aim to offer a holistic experience for visitors while promoting eco-tourism.

According to Saba Alam Ansari, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Jamshedpur, these green initiatives will help protect forest land, enhance biodiversity, and bring people closer to nature. The surrounding area of Dalma will benefit from these efforts, both ecologically and socially. Once completed, these projects will be accessible to the public, contributing significantly to the district’s environmental and recreational resources.
