Grand Parents Day: Loyola School extends ‘A Salute to our Roots’

Jamshedpur, Sept 2: “We would not be here without our grandparents who are the footsteps to the future generations. They are our reassurance, our roots that hold and bind us, our present and future,” observed Loyola School Principal, Fr Vinod Fernandes, SJ on the occasion of Grandparents Day celebrations in the form of ‘A Salute to our Roots.’

An aura of love, care and joy permeated across Loyola School in Bistupur as students and faculty members drove home the importance of grandparents as pillars of strength and confidence. Their gratitude was expressed through narration and presentations of beautiful stories, songs that evoked laughter and fanned the spirit of love, care and fondness. The events made the celebration of Grandparents Day at Loyola School on Saturday, September 2 an album to be cherished for a long time. The presentation of immortal storyteller Munshi Premchand’s ‘Idgah,’ that highlights Hamid’s love and concern for his grandmother, was a unique mode of stating, “Grandparents, we love you and thank you for giving us our world.”

‘Retro,’ was another bag of fun that evoked unbridled foot-tapping unleashed by the band of talented Loyoleans. Other exciting events included Antakshari, KBC Lite, Ramp Walk, Fireless cooking and Rangoli that revved the adrenaline flow in the 150 grandparents who participated in the celebrations. The radiating joy on their countenances said it all. The sight was captured for posterity as the students had themselves snapped with their grandparents. The Loyoleans had well and truly ‘Saluted their Roots.’ The event culminated with a vote of thanks proposed by Vice Principal, Jayanthi Sheshadri.
