Ranchi, July 29: Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said that his government understood the plight and sufferings of the farmers and would always stand by them at the time of the need.
The comments from the CM followed after he came to know about the sufferings of a farmer Balku Murmu of Barmundi village under Karmatand Block of the Jamtara district. On learning about his problem, the CM directed Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma, Agriculture Secretary Pooja Singhal and DC Jamtara Ramesh Kumar Dubey to provide all possible help immediately to the farmer.
Following his instructions a team of the district administration led by the DC visited the village and took stock of the situation and provided all needy items including cash, food grains, seeds and fertilizers.
Few days ago the farmer Balku Murmu was forced to sell one its oxes for the treatment of his wife to pay the medical expenses who was admitted in Dhanbad. After his wife died he was again forced to sell his other ox and also mortgage his land.
Following the orders from the CM, the DC gave Rs 20,000 in cash to him also gotback the oxen which he had sold for Rs 17,000 and also freed his mortgage land.
The district administration also gave a sum of Rs 3,000 to perform the last rites of his wife alongwith one quintal of rice, bag of fertilizers alongwith 25 kilogram seeds of ‘arhar’ and groundnut. A tractor was also pressed in to plough his fields so that he could undertake paddy cultivation.
Das said the farmers who was going through a very tough time personally and economically and it was the collective responsibility of all help him at the time of need. The plight of the farmer came to notice after a complaint in this regard was registered at the farmer call center.
