JMM pays tribute to Nirmal Mahto
BJP had derailed the state: CM
Jamshedpur, Dec. 25 : Chief Minister Hemant Soren, on his maiden visit to the city after becoming Chief Minister said that his first year at the helm of the State had been very challenging. “The Government will come up with a four year road map for development and will present it before the people.”
Soren was interacting with the media at Ulliyan in Kadma. He was in the city to pay tribute to Shahid Nirmal Mahto, whose birth anniversary was observed on Friday.

After paying floral tributes at the statue of the departed leader who was gunned down in 1987 in front of the Chamaria Guest House, Soren said, “When I took over as Chief Minister of Jharkhand I found the development process of the state had derailed and it was the handiwork of the BJP government. We are now removing the debris left behind by the preceding government and have worked to put all development projects on track during our one year’s tenure. A lot has to be done but we are moving in the right direction assiduously working for the state’s allround development.”

When questioned on the rampant illegal mining in the State, the Chief Minister said that steps were being taken to imp[lement stern measures against illegal mining.
Tributes were paid at Ulliyan, the birth place of martyr Nirmal Mahto on Friday afternoon. Various functions were organised across the city where senior leaders of JMM paid homage to their leader.
A prayer meeting was organised near Nirmal Mahto’s memorial at Ulliyan in Kadma. Later JMM supporters accompanied by their leaders paid floral tributes to the martyr at his bust near Tata Steel’s Guest House in Bistupur.

Health Minister Banna Gupta, JMM leaders Champai Soren, Ramdas Soren, senior leaders Mohan Karmakar and Raju Giri, former Jamshedpur MP Suman Mahto, were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering of party supporters at Kadma Soren said, “The need of the hour is to work genuinely for the development of the state as Nirmal Da laid his life for the creation of a separate state to make tribals of this region earn livelihood with dignity.” The turnout this year was comparatively low as people from Odisha and West Bengal came in lesser numbers due to the prevalent COVID-19 situation. Meanwhile, JMM leaders maintained that with the increase in the reach of Nirmal Da’s ideology amongst the party workers of neighbouring states particularly, West Bengal and Odisha their turnout had been increasing over the years.
