Chaibasa, March 21: Industries, mines and geology secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal, on Tuesday chaired a meeting with mining leases of West Singhbhum district in Circuit house, Chaibasa on Tuesday.
In his speech, the secretary said, in view of creating Jobs and generating royalty in the interest of nation, state and public the government has taken a decision to open all the mines which were operating till 2014. The secretary directed the lease owner to operate mines within one month and those who are unable to start their mining activities within the stipulated period then those lease owner should surrender their mining lease to the government so that government can auction the mines.
The mines lease owners were also asked to prepare DGPS and demarcate their area so that rest of the area could be leased out through auction. The secretary also asked the leases to furnish necessary documents to the concerned departments for immediate mining clearance.
The lease owner also should submit the supplementary lease deed. The secretary explained that the government does not want to keep the mining area in idle condition rather it wants to utilize maximum for the benefit of the people and nation. At present 21 Iron ore mines are closed in Kolhan.
The decision has brought definitely a relief to many who are dependent on mining trade. The present among others were Mines commissioner Abu Bakr Siddiqu, DC Dr Shantanu Kumar Agrahari, and lease owners. .
