Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum District Marwari Sammelan has accelerated preparations for the “Rajasthan Mahotsav-cum-Mela 2026,” scheduled to take place from May 17 to 19 at the Gopal Maidan in Bistupur. A delegation led by District President Mukesh Mittal recently met with Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren to extend formal invitations.
Governor to Inaugurate Festivities
During a meeting at Raj Bhavan, Governor Santosh Gangwar accepted the invitation to attend the inaugural ceremony on May 17 as the Chief Guest. The delegation briefed the Governor on the festival’s mission to preserve and showcase Rajasthan’s rich heritage.
Governor Gangwar lauded the initiative, noting that such festivals are essential for keeping the younger generation connected to their roots and fostering social harmony.
Chief Minister Pledges Support
The delegation also visited Chief Minister Hemant Soren at his residential office, where Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy was also in attendance. District President Mukesh Mittal presented the Chief Minister with a commemorative badge of the Mahotsav.
Expressing his intent to participate, CM Hemant Soren remarked that Jharkhand’s identity is built on the coexistence of diverse cultures and that such events strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and communal harmony.
A Three-Day Cultural Extravaganza
The Rajasthan Mahotsav-cum-Mela 2026 promises to bring the “Land of Kings” to Jamshedpur through:
- Folk Performances: Traditional dances including Kalbelia and Ghoomar, alongside Rajasthani folk music.
- Art and Exhibits: Handicraft exhibitions, ethnic attire displays, and decorative stalls.
- Culinary Delights: Stalls featuring authentic Rajasthani cuisine and traditional delicacies.
- Community Activities: Special programs organized by the Youth and Women’s wings, focusing on social awareness and family values.
