Ranchi, Oct 12: Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais has assured the tourism department that talks would be held with the Central government for fund to boost infrastructure in tourist destinations.
During a review meeting of the state sports, youth affairs and tourism department at Raj Bhawan in Ranchi on Monday evening, Ramesh Bais expressed surprise that tourism sector in the state has not developed as fast as it should have.
“There is immense potential for tourism in Jharkhand and there need to work in a planned manner for the development of tourism. We have to provide facilities to the tourists so that the tourist places of the state are recognized at the national level and people are more and more attracted to come here. Infrastructure should be developed in various places which are rich in nature. Officers should not worry about funds. If needed, talk will be held with the Central government for funds to develop tourism in Jharkhand,” said Bais.
The Governor reiterated that as long as he in Jharkhand, he is committed towards the development of this state so that this state has a unique identity at the national level in the field of development.
The Governor discussed about arrangements for the overnight stay of tourists near tourist places, he directed to provide facilities for the stay of tourists. He asked the officials to build a tourist circuit. He said that such a tourist circuit should be constructed so that tourists can know the distance from one tourist place to another by various means like rail, road, air, etc. Describing the state as very rich from the religious point of view, he directed the formation of a separate religious tourist circuit. He asked to ensure adequate security arrangements in the Fossils Park set up in the palace so that more and more tourists can come and get information.
The Governor told the officials that despite being so rich from the natural point of view, this state is not able to establish its name in the national level tourist destinations. He said that he has a special love for tourism and has worked to develop various tourist places in Chhattisgarh and Tripura.
The Governor expressed concern that at news about sportspersons of international/national repute having to mortgaging his medal.He asked the department to pay special attention to such players.
He said that he was the President of Archery Association of Chhattisgarh State and he tried to encourage the players a lot in the field of Archery. He said that this state has many talents in the field of archery, hockey etc. He inquired about astroturf for hockey players, their training and other facilities related to the promotion.
In the meeting, secretary, tourism, art-culture, sports and youth affairs department Amitabh Kaushal said that for the last one and a half years, Covid has completely affected the tourism and sports activities.
He said that conservation work of temples is going on in Malooti. Along with this, work is also being done to develop the Birsa Munda Jail in the museum, where the biography of various tribal freedom fighters of Jharkhand will be installed and their biography will be shown. Along with this, there is also a state museum in Hotwar.
