Ranchi: Jharkhand Vikas Morcha general secretary and legislative group leader Pradip Yadav today said the judicial commission set up under the chairmanship of former district judge Ram Bilas Gupta had found the JVM free of fault while blaming the district administration for the lathi charge and firing by police during the agitation launched by the party on 3rd September 2012.
The JVM had called an agitation on the issue of displacement and rehabilitation of people on 3rd September. One man, identified as Bhole Oraon, was killed in the violence.
The JVM legislator said as per the Commission report, Bhole Oraon had died in the police lathi charge. He said the truth regarding the incident came out only due to the pressure exerted by the JVM on the state government to set up a judicial commission to probe into the incident.
Yadav said the report was issued on 28th May last. As per the report, the incident could have been avoided. Due to the failure of district administration, the violence could not be contained. The officer in-charge and driver were responsible for the death of Bhole Oraon, he said.
The JVM leader said the Commission had absolved all JVM leaders including party president Babulal Marandi of the charges of involvement in the violence. He said the state government should withdraw cases lodged against the JVM leaders. He further said that the government should give a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased.
