Seraikela, May 8: The government cannot force teachers in state government schools to use personal smartphones to mark biometric attendance. For this, the government should provide adequate resources in each school. These things were said by Kunal Das, President of Para Teacher-Non Para JTET Successful Candidates Association Jharkhand during a press conference on Monday.
He said that even in today’s era, there are many teachers, especially para teachers, who either do not use smartphones or only one smartphone is available for the whole family. Many people do not use smartphones much for other reasons as well. In such a situation, it is not at all justified by the department to pressurize teachers to make biometric attendance through personal smartphones.
The government should provide necessary resources in every government school to register biometric attendance. Apart from this, eVidyavahini has been facing technical problems since its inception. The government needs to fix it by paying attention to this as well.
Das said that until the government does not fix all the technical problems by providing machines to register biometric attendance in schools, the union will strongly oppose if teachers are forced to make biometric attendance on personal smartphones. Also, in the present circumstances, if the department show-causes any teacher in the matter of biometric attendance, then the union will not hesitate to go to the court.
