Goswami visits village affected by tusker menace

Baharagora: Former state BJP president Dr Dineshanand Goswami visited Ghagra village of Bhutia panchayat in Baharagora on Friday to take stock of the situation in the wake of yesterdays tusker invasion. A herd of tuskers entered the village last night and destroyed standing paddy crop over an area of 60 bighas, sources said.
Goswami met local forest officials and demanded their intervention to prevent the rerun of such incidents. He also demanded adequate compensation for the farmers who had lost their crops in the invasion. He said the farmers should be given torch and firecrackers to scare away the elephants.
