Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Vikas Morcha activists gheraoed Golmuri police station on Saturday following the death of a woman after being killed by a heavy vehicle near RD Tata roundabout.
The deceased, identified as R Laxmi, a resident of Zone Number 6, Birsanagar, and her husband were knocked down by a speeding heavy vehicle near the roundabout yesterday evening. The two were severely injured in the incident. Laxmi succumbed to critical injuries.
Hundreds of JVM activists led by party secretary Abhay Singh and local residents gheraoed the police station and demanded arresting of the guilty driver and compensation to the next of kin of the deceased.
Police lodged an FIR against the vehicle driver and assured to arrest him.
