Chaibasa, May 10: Unidentified criminals looted a gold chain worth Rs 1.5 lakh from a 72 year-old woman in Gandhi Tola under Chaibasa police station area on Tuesday, police said.
The loot reportedly took place around 7 am when the woman, identified as Bulu Dutta, was going to fetch some cow dung from a nearby ground for performing puja in her house. Just then, two motorcycle-borne men approached her and snatched her chain. The woman fell on the ground. She sustained injuries in her neck and legs, cops said.
The looters had covered their faces with cloth and they wore helmets, the victim told police.
Police later obtained a CCTV footage of the crime in which the criminals can be seen snatching the chain from the woman.
Local residents alleged that police slackness had led to the incident.
