Giridih (IANS): A 24-year-old man died late Monday night after a group of assailants attacked him with sharp-edged weapons near the Azad Nagar Chadra Bridge. The victim, Taufiq Ansari, had recently completed a prison sentence and died shortly after naming his attackers in a video recorded by his family.
Premeditated Ambush
According to police and witness statements, a resident named Asif Ali allegedly called Taufiq to a meeting around midnight. Taufiq arrived at the location with three friends, only to find the accused waiting with four to five accomplices.
An argument escalated into a violent chase. Although Taufiq attempted to escape, the group overpowered him and stabbed him several times with sharp weapons. When family members reached the scene, they found Taufiq bleeding profusely. Before succumbing to his injuries, Taufiq named Sakib, Arshad, Monu Pathan, and Asif Ali as his killers.
Police Investigation and Criminal Background
Pachamba police reached the spot, recovered the victim’s mobile phone from a nearby drain, and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigations suggest the murder stems from a struggle for local dominance and personal rivalry.
Authorities confirmed that Taufiq had a criminal history and had served jail time in a previous case. Police have now formed special teams to conduct raids and apprehend the suspects named in the victim’s dying declaration.
