Giridih: Police bust call center cheating pregnant women, 9 arrested

Giridih: A fake call center involved in cheating pregnant women was busted in Giridih district of Jharkhand on Monday and nine people were arrested. Police gave this information. Police said that the call center was being operated from a newly constructed house in Bodo of Panchamba police station area.
Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Sharma said that the accused used to target pregnant women and steal money from their bank accounts in the name of providing benefits of government welfare schemes. He said that the fraudsters also targeted electricity consumers and fooled them under the guise of getting them to pay their bills.

Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Sharma said that a team led by DSP (Cyber) Sandeep Suman raided the house and arrested seven people from there. He said that on the basis of information received during the interrogation of the arrested people, two more people were arrested. Items seized during the raid included 16 mobile phones, 25 SIM cards, four ATM cards, six passbooks, two chequebooks, three QR codes and two motorcycles.

SP told that these accused used to call pregnant women and cheat them by threatening to disconnect the connection by calling them to get maternity benefit amount of Rs 6300 and by calling those whose electricity bills are outstanding. In this campaign, Cyber DSP Sandeep Suman Samdarshi, Police Inspector Ajay Kumar, P.Roshan Kumar, Sabal Kumar De, Shyam Babu Rathore, Saroj Kumar Mandal, Sanjay Mukhier, Saket Verma, Jitendra Nath Mahato, Saurabh, Suman, Suresh Yadav Ashutosh Kumar Ranjan. etc. were included.
