Ghatshila, Oct 17: The Principal of Ghatshila College, Dr RK Chaudhary said that under the Savitri Bai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojna, girls fulfilling the criteria would stand to get financial benefits ranging between Rs 5,000 and Rs 20, 000. He said that girls should fill up the appropriate forms at the earliest to avail of the benefits of the scheme. They were also informed about the Johar Periods schemes.
The girl students of Ghatshila College were informed about Savitri Bai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana during a programme organized in the college premises on Monday. Ghatshila College Principal Dr RK Choudhary explained that the Savitri Bai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana was launched by the Jharkhand government for the education and general uplift of girls. He further explained that under the scheme, girl students in classes 11 and 12 in the college would get financial assistance of Rs 5,000 while those in the age group of 18 and 19 years will get financial assistance of Rs 20,000. The girl students were asked to apply for the benefits of the scheme provided their parents were not income tax assesses.
It may be informed that the scheme has been floated as a token of respect for Savitri Bai Phule of Maharashtra who was a prominent Indian social reformer, educationist and poet. She played an important role in women’s education and empowerment during the 19th century.
Dr Chaudhary informed that more than 2,000 girl students of this college would be benefited through this scheme.
Ghatshila’s Child Development Project Officer Supriya Sharma told that this government scheme was especially beneficial for girl students and adolescent girls for it was for their education that the scheme had been conceived. She said that the Savitri Bai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojna paid emphasis on education of the girl child and also sought to root out the practice of child marriage and instead, foster women’s empowerment.
the Namya Smile Foundation initiated the Johar Periods program, a project of the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur. Instructors Rishu Ranjan, Vikram Saw and their team members Pradeep Kumar Saw and Nirmal Kumar discussed among the girl students on healthy periods, in which 445 girl students were provided with Menstupedia comic books under the Johar Periods campaign. The program was conducted by Professor Indal Paswan. Dr Naresh Kumar, Daisy Sewa, Mallika Sharma, Prof. Soma Singh and others were present on the occasion..
