Jamshedpur, Jan 15: In a relief to Ghaghidih Central Jail officials, state Home Ministry has given them a clean chit in the case of suicide by a prisoner, Mangal Nath, on 22nd August 2017. In reply to question asked by National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), the Home Ministry said the prisoner had committed suicide by hanging himself with the help of a plastic sack. The prisoner got the sack from the jail premises where it was used to carry vegetables, the report said.
The jail administration had given a report to the Jail IG after the prisoner�s suicide. It had denied allegations that a rope was sent to the jail to help the prisoner, sources said.
