Gautama Buddha theme of 87th Tinplate Durga Puja

Jamshedpur, Sept. 15: Tinplate Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee is gearing up to celebrate its 87th year at the Evening Club, Tinplate.

Durga Puja celebrations will begin on 3rd October 2019 (Maha Panchami) and will continue till 8th October 2019 (Bijoya Dashami), said SJ Dey, President of the committee.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Dey said, “This year, the theme for the 87th year of Sharod Celebration will be on Gautama Buddha the reformer of Indian Spiritual History and will showcase his life and preachings. The Utsav will be eco-friendly with focus on plastic free celebration. The Tinplate family and surrounding communities have started the preparation. Cultural programmes will be organised in the evening by the children of Tinplate family and local artists.”

The theme of celebration of last two years was based on two Indian Epics-Ramayana (2017) and Mahabharata (2018). Last year�s pandal was a replica of �Hastinapur Mahal�, the capital of the Kuru Kingdom.

The concept and displays was appreciated by the people of Jamshedpur and by local authorities. The puja was recognised by the Central Durga Puja Committee, and by the local administration, Dey informed.

The other members of the club present at the press meet were Sudeshna Dey, Purnima Mitra, Satya Narayan Das, Arun Sarkar, Uday Prakash Singh, Sunny Roy, Jaya Sarkar and Kaustabh Roy.
