Jamshedpur: Sri Tatanagar Gaushala here on Sunday set the ball rolling for using cowdung cakes for cremation at Jugsalai Shiv Ghat crematorium. A special machine for producing cow dung cakes was inaugurated at the Gaushala.
The general secretary of the Gaushala, Mahesh Goel, said the machine had been brought from Haryana for preparing Gau Kashtha (cow dung cakes or flakes). The cow dung wood thus produced would be supplied to the Shiv Ghat for use in cremation. This would help save at least four trees, he said.
Goel said a relative of Ramesh Agrawal, patron of Tatanagar Gaushala, was cremated with the help of cow dung cakes.
Those present during the inauguration of the machine include Kailash Seraiwala, Anil Agrawal, Bajrang Lal Bharatia, Bina Khirwal, Mamata Murarka, Suresh Naredi, Rajesh Harnathka and Kailash Agrawal.
