Kolkata, September 24: Garden High School, IISER Kolkata Campus, hosted its Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony and Variety Programme at Ritwik Sadan, Kalyani on Tuesday, 23 September 2025. The grand occasion celebrated the achievements of students and showcased their artistic and cultural talents.
The evening began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address by Principal Ratna Biswas, who emphasized the importance of holistic education that balances academics with co-curricular excellence.
The cultural segment reflected the diverse talents of the students. Performances included a classical medley comprising an Indian Raag, a Rabindra Sangeet and a Tarana; a vibrant dance performance; and a play titled “Sunday Costs Twenty Thousand Rupees,” adapted from Josefina Niggli’s work. The school choir and student band enthralled the audience with a medley of popular numbers including “That’s The Way,” “Hotel California,” and “Kagaz Ke Do Pankh Leke.” The evening concluded with a powerful dance narrative on the Mahabharat, leaving the audience deeply moved.

The programme was attended by distinguished guests, including T. K. Gopalan, CEO of Satikanta Guha Foundation; Mahua Dasgupta, Secretary of Garden High School, Kolkata; Dr. Nilimesh Roy Chowdhury, Chairman of Kalyani Municipality; Arup Sarkar, Principal of Satish Chandra Memorial School, Chakdah, and President of the Kolkata Sahodaya School Complex; and Kajal Kumar Rudra, Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kalyani. The event was also graced by senior teachers from neighbouring schools, adding to the spirit of collaboration and academic fraternity.
The Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony not only acknowledged the scholastic and extracurricular achievements of the students but also celebrated the values of creativity, teamwork, and discipline that lie at the heart of Garden High School’s ethos.
