Jamshedpur: Palamau-based gangster Sujit Sinha has demanded extortion from several businessmen of his district from Ghaghidih Central Jail. He used SIM cards obtained by depositing forged documents. This was revealed on Wednesday by city police who have lodged an FIR against the gangster.
SSP Anoop Birtharay said the accused threatened several businessmen over phone and demanded huge sums from them in extortion. Riya Sinha alias Sonam, wife of Sujit Sinha, is also accused of demanding extortion. Police have also booked Monu alias Akash Rai of Ranchi, Bittu Kumar of Bagbera, Sachin Das of Sidhgora and an unidentified person in this connection.
According to the SSP, Riya Sinha has been arrested from Pandara in Palamau and sent to jail. Sujit Sinha is in Ghaghidih Jail since February 2018. He and his associates have been threatening businessmen for the last many days. Police seized an iPhone from the possession of Riya Sinha. They also seized a mobile phone from Bittu Kumar.
Police said Sachin Das had provided over a dozen SIM cards to Bittu Kumar who gave the same to Sujit, his wife and aides.
