Jamshedpur: Gangaur Mahotsava was celebrated with fervour at Agrasen Bhavan, Sakchi, under the aegis of Marari Sammelan, Sakchi, on Monday.
Various contests were organized on the occasion for women devotees.
Several groups of married women participants performed group and solo dance and sang religious songs. They worshipped Lord Shiva and Goddess Parwati and prayed for the longevity of their husbands. The performances were judged by Saroj Agrawal and Roma Kumari.
The programme was conducted by Rani Agrawal and Mamata Agrawal. The guests of the event praised the participants and said that organizing such events helped hone their talent.
The festival was jointly inaugurated by Ramkrishna Choudhary, president of Rajasthan Kalyan Parishad, Umesh Sah, president of East Singhbhum Zila Marwari Sammelan, Bajrang Lal Agrawal, Om Prakash Ringsia and Sanwarmal Agrawal.
Among others present during the programme included Sunita Ringsia, Babita Ringsia, Anju Khetani, Manju Kauntia, Ruchi Ringsia, Kusum Ringsia and Manju Sen.
