Gang responsible for jewelry shop thefts in Jamshedpur busted

Jamshedpur: Police here claimed to have busted a racket of burglars involved in a number of crimes including thefts in jewelry shops across the city by arresting two members of the gang. The kingpin of the gang, identified as Kallu Sardar, is yet to be arrested, cops said.

Police sources said the gang had robbed jewelry worth several lakh from Laxmi Jewelers in Govindpur recently. The accused persons, who were nabbed in Deoghar on the basis of a tip-off, spilled the beans and told police their modus operandi. They said the recent incidents of thefts in jewelry shops across the city were the handiworks of their gang.

Sources said the Kallu Sardar gang members had killed one Konda gaur, resident of Chhayanagar under Sitaramdera police station area in Bagbera way back in 2011. Cops had arrested Abhay Mohan and Manna Mahato in this case.
