Five held in Bhavanipur dacoity case, arms confiscated

Jamshedpur: Police claimed to have busted a gang of dacoits by arresting four of its members from Jamshedpur and Ghatsila. The accused persons, identified as Shamim alias Bablu, Amarjeet Kunwar, Mustakim, Mushtaq alias Mustafa and Nadeem. Shamim, 44, is a resident of Azad Busti, Mango. Sources said the accused persons had carried out armed robbery at the residence of one Mohan Agrawal at Banerjee Lane, Bhavanipur, Kolkata, on 24th January last. The accused robbed jewelry worth several lakh from the house. They had used a car to execute their plan. Cops seized two pistols from their possession. Shamim had allegedly called Amarjeet from Mujaffarpur (Bihar) to aid him in the crime. Mushtaq had given clues about the inside details of the house targeted by the gang. The accused persons reportedly told cops they had committed robberies on the National Highway 6 as well as in trains.
