Gamharia, Sep 14: A 22 year-old youth, identified as Suraj Mahato, resident of Nengtasai village, died in a train accident in Gamharia-Sini rail section on Wednesday.
Sources said the victim was on his way to duty in a Gamharia-based company this morning. He stopped at Yashpur railway level crossing, waiting for the barricade to be lifted. The train number 12809 was coming at high speed. Suraj, in a bid to cross over to the other side, pushed his bike under the barrier. But before he could make it, the train knocked him along with his vehicle and dragged him up to a kilometer. He died at the scene while his hike was mutilated.
The on-duty Railway staff immediately informed the Railway authorities concerned and local police about the incident. The family members of the deceased were informed about the tragedy. Police sent the body of the deceased to government hospital for postmortem examination.
