Gamblers attack cops during raid in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Nov 5: Four persons including Kovali police station in-charge Amit Ravidas were injured in an attack by gamblers. The incident took place under Kovali police station area. When he reached the spot, Ravidas asked them to stop gambling and go home. They were gambling in view of Diwali. Hearing this, the gang attacked everyone, including the station in-charge, with bricks and stones and sticks, due to which Om Prakash Mandal received serious head injuries. In view of the critical condition of the Havaldar, he was taken to the Community Health Center Potka where he is undergoing treatment.

In this regard, the injured police station in-charge said that when they reached Kovali during patrolling, people were gambling on a large scale. Asked him to go home and told him to gamble at home. People got angry about this and attacked me and the constable and other two jawans with bricks and stones, sticks and attempts were being made to snatch the rifle. Others injured include Om Prakash Mandal, Nirmal Kumar Rai and Ramesh Ram.
