Jamshedpur, March 22: City residents are all set to get a big gift on Thursday. The foundation stone of country’s longest double decker flyover will be laid tomorrow. The flyover will span from Chandil, Asanbani on NH 33 of Jamshedpur to Baliguma Deoghar passing above Pardih Dimna. The foundation stone will be laid by Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. Elaborate arrangements have been made for the programme.

This double decker flyover will be 10.04 km long. Such a long double decker road has not been built in any part of the country as yet. According to the plan, NH 33 will be a four lane road or service lane. The second lane or the upper part of the road will be used for coming from Ranchi to Jamshedpur or for coming from Odisha or Kolkata to Jamshedpur from the other side.

According to sources, the second lane of the double decker i.e. its top will be used for travelling from Ranchi to Odisha and Kolkata. Between Dimna Chowk and Pardih Chowk, ramps will be made from both the sides to get on or off the double decker from the city. Apart from this, the Union Minister will also dedicate to the public a stretch of 44 kilometers of the NH from Shaharbeda to Mahulia in NH 33. The proposed part of the NH will be built at a cost of about Rs 1876 crore, which is expected to be completed in three years, sources said.
