Bistupur police register murder case after nine months on his father�s complaint

Jamshedpur, Oct 17: The case of mysterious death of Shashwat Dixit, a student of XLRI Jamshedpur, on the B-school campus on 18th January last has taken a new turn. The post-mortem report of the viscera sample taken from his body has revealed that he had died after consuming some poisonous substance.
After the revelation, Bistupur police have registered an FIR against unidentified persons on the complaint of Avdhesh Kumar Dixit, father of the deceased. He said his son was a student of 2017-19 batch. The post-mortem was conducted on 19th January last. The viscera was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Ranchi, which found out that Shashwat had died of poisoning.

Sub Inspector Sanjeev Kumar Jha has been made the investigation officer in this case. Earlier, a case of unnatural death was registered by police.
SSP Anoop Birtharay said a fresh investigation would be conducted into the incident after the lodging of FIR.
Shashwat was found lying on the floor near the gate of Mother Teresa Girls Hostel Gate on the day of the incident. Blood reportedly came out of his mouth. In the CCTV footage, cops saw Shashwat coming out of St. Thomas Hostel and falling down near another hostel.
The deceased was a native of Kanpur. His family resides in Tilak Nagar, Mumbai. He had clinched a Rs 22 lakh annual package in the campus selection. He was to join his job in March, sources said.
