From Goa’s Shores to Jamshedpur FC: Vincy Barreto shines in Durand Cup Journey

Jamshedpur, Aug 14: Growing up amidst the golden beaches and football-crazy streets of Goa, Vincy Barreto’s love for the beautiful game began early. For many youngsters in the coastal state, wearing the colors of a big club like Dempo SC is a dream — and for Vincy, it became a reality through sheer hard work and determination. That breakthrough marked the start of a journey that would take him across India’s footballing landscape.

From Dempo to FC Goa, then on to Gokulam Kerala, Kerala Blasters, Chennaiyin FC, and now Jamshedpur FC, Vincy’s career has been a tapestry of experiences, challenges, and growth. “So far it has been really good, though there were ups and downs,” he admits. But it’s in those ups and downs that he found his biggest lessons. Each setback became a stepping stone, each failure a chance to refine himself into a better version, learning to adapt to new playing styles, coaches, and teammates.

Now representing Jamshedpur FC in the prestigious Durand Cup, Vincy relishes the opportunity to make his mark on one of Asia’s oldest and most celebrated tournaments. Scoring in such a storied competition holds a special place in his heart, and he’s eager for more moments in front of goal. “Having a tournament like the Durand at the start of the season is important — it gives teams momentum and builds confidence,” he says with conviction.

Under the guidance of coach Khalid Jamil, Vincy feels both trusted and inspired. “I would like to thank coach for giving me this opportunity to play and believing in me,” he adds. With determination in his stride and the Durand Cup as his stage, Vincy Barreto’s journey from the shores of Goa to the heart of Indian football continues to inspire — proof that hard work, resilience, and belief can carry a player to glory.
