Hazaribagh: The investigation into the mysterious deaths of six members of Jharkhand’s renowned Maheshwari family has been reignited, following objections raised by the family to the CID’s earlier investigation report. On the orders of the Jharkhand High Court, a 14-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) conducted a thorough search in the flat where the six bodies were found under suspicious circumstances.
The SIT, comprising officers from various divisions, including Naushad Alam, SDPO Bagodar Saria, Giridih, Mahesh Prajapati, SDPO Sadar Hazaribagh, and others, spent approximately two hours examining the scene of the incident. Family members were present during the investigation.
It was reported that the Maheshwari family raised concerns over the CID’s investigation report, prompting the High Court to order a fresh inquiry. The SIT is expected to submit a comprehensive report to the High Court by January. The investigation, initiated after the deaths were initially deemed a suicide by local police, has now taken a new turn with the involvement of the SIT.
The Maheshwari family tragedy unfolded on July 15, 2018, when the bodies of six family members were discovered in flat number 303 of CDM Apartment near Khajanchi Pond in Hazaribagh. The deceased included Mahavir Maheshwari, Kiran Maheshwari, Naresh Maheshwari, Preeti Maheshwari, Aman Maheshwari (10), and Anvi alias Pari Maheshwari (06). The circumstances surrounding their deaths were initially investigated by the local police, but due to public pressure, the case was later taken up by the Jharkhand CID team. The CID’s findings were contested by Rajesh Maheshwari, a family member, leading to the recent order for a fresh investigation by the SIT.
