Adityapur resident were enroute to Varanasi for admission in BHU
Jamshedpur, Dec 28: Four persons belonging to a single family from Adityapur died in a road mishap near Nagarsai Chottu Hotel in Ichagarh along NH-33 on Monday late afternoon.
The incident exposed reckless driving along the mishap-prone NH-33 stretch Jamshedpur to capital Ranchi and also about heavy vehicles parking illegally along the NH-33 without mandatory norms like reflective marks at the back and putting the red lights on during parking.
According to reports, Tata Steel employee Prabhat Kumar’s wife Mamta Rani (40), daughter Priyam Singh alias Madhu (22), son Parmit Kumar alias Aman (20) and his younger brother-in-law Abhay Kumar died on the spot when the car in which they were travelling dashed against a stationary truck from behind near Chottu Hotel in Ichagarh.
The police then rushed five more injured for treatment to Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur.

Police informed that Prabhat Kumar, a resident of Majhitola under Adityapur thana had hired a car and also used his younger brother-in-law’s car and they were all going for admission of his daughter Priyam Singh in MBBS at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi and while going to Varanasi one of their cars dashed against a stationary truck from behind in Ichagarh leading to four persons in the car dying on the spot while the car was badly mangled due to the impact of the crash.
However, Prabhat Kumar who was in another car managed to escape along with deceased’s Abhay Kumar’s father D. K Singh, mother Manju Rani, wife Kavita Singh and five year old daughter Tuki Singh are injured and admitted in Tata Main Hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.
The post mortem of all the four deceased was held at Seraikela Sadar Hospital.
Significantly, due to the ongoing construction work at NH-33 stretch between Ranchi and Jamshedpur (till Mohulia in Ghatshila) several trucks continue to park vehicles illegally along the NH-33 to take a break at either roadside dhabas or for relieving themselves which is not as per regulations of the National Highways. Due to lack of enforcement by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) as the road is yet to be completed such errant vehicles are not towed away resulting in such unfortunate road mishaps claiming precious lives.
