Jamshedpur, April 18: Two motorcycle-borne youths were killed in a road accident in Gamharia on Monday. They were identified as Salkhan Manjhi and Naga Tudu, both vegetable traders, officials said.

Sources said the mishap occurred near Raipur village when the two youths were on their way to Nimdih on a bike to bring vegetables. Due to high speed, the bike rammed into a stationary truck. Both persons wree critically injured in the incident. They succumbed at the scene, cops said.

Police sent the bodies to MGM Medical College for postmortem examination. They said the youths had sustained fatal head injuries. The news of the tragic incident sent a wave of mourning in the victims’ village.

Cops said the tragedy occurred due to reckless driving at high speed and neglect of road safety norms.

Two die in mishap on Hata-Jadugora road

Two youths died in a road tragedy near Balijuri village on the Hata-Jadugora Road under Potka police station area late Sunday night. They were identified as Budhdev Sardar and Rathindra Bhumij, both residents of Rajnagar and Hesalbil respectively, officials said.

According to sources, the incident occurred when the motorcycle carrying the two youths collided with a car speeding up in opposite direction. Budhdev and Rathindra sustained critical injuries in the incident while their bike was badly damaged. They were taken to MGM Hospital where they were pronounced brought dead.

The car driver fled the scene after leaving the vehicle behind. Irked over the incident, local residents set the car afire next morning. Police seized the motorcycle and the burnt car in the morning. They said they were searching for the errant driver.
