Among the apprehended is Piyari Mandal, a resident of Vishunpur village in the Bengabad police station area of Giridih district. Mandal, who was in Muralidih village for Chhathiyari celebrations, was nabbed during the police action. A cybercrime case (Giridih police station case number 17/23) was already registered against him, and he was absconding prior to his arrest.
From Subdidih village, Izhar Ansari, Mojahid Ansari, and Safaul Ansari were arrested. Safaul Ansari, a resident of Manpur village in the Narayanpur police station area, had a previous cybercrime case registered against him in 2017.

During a press conference at the Jamtara Cyber Police Station, Cyber DSP Manjrul Hoda and police station in-charge Manoj Kumar revealed that the arrested cyber criminals had devised a novel method of fraud. They targeted individuals in Gujarat and Rajasthan by establishing a fake helpline for animal protection on Google search engine. Victims were assured of safeguarding stray animals upon contacting the helpline, and in exchange for a supposed processing charge of Rs 10, the fraudsters gained access to e-banking information through downloaded apps like Quick Support, subsequently executing cyber fraud. The police seized 15 mobiles, 31 SIMs, and 03 bikes from the arrested individuals as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
