Founder�s Day : Jamshedpur turns into �City of Lights�


Jamshedpur: With pomp and fanfare Founder�s Day celebration began in the city on Friday. N Chandrasekaran, chairman Tata Sons inaugurated the illumination at Jubilee Park. With a click of button, a riot of lights flashed at the park to brighten the surroundings. The illumination which would be open for public viewing at Jubilee Park has around 1534 electronic display tableaus with LED lights and three animated illuminated model with integrated sound system of animal kingdom.

A magic button that brought Jubilee Park alive, with thousands of fairy lights twinkling in memory of industrialist and visionary Jamshetji Nusserwanji Tata, has become most sought after destination. People from all walks of life today to see the magic.

Illumination at Jubilee Park, always a must-see for thousands of steel city residents. This year, the lights focussed on growth chart of Tata Steel. Lights also brought alive typical Tata concerns such as energy conservation and climate change as well as folk lore from life of Tata.

Behind the bright lights were the nimble fingers and imagination of visualisers and light men from Chandannagar, Bengal.

They have been behind the Founder�s Day show for the past three decades, and this year, they took 45 days to create the magic. One of this year�s most delightful visual treat was the fountain�s myriad hues. Working models also caught the attraction of visitors.

The Jayanti Sarovar played host to nine floats, each depicting activities related to the corporate social responsibility of the Tatas.

There are several models on Tata Steel latest slogans Zimmedaar Nagrik Zimmedaar Shaher and company concerns like energy conservation and climate change as well as folk lore from Panchatantra. The Jayanti Sarovar had four fountains with LED lighted huge models of Eiffel Tower.

Tata Steel is paying homage to its founder Jamsetji Nusservanji Tata on his 179th birth anniversary on March 3. Various events have been lined up to mark the occasion, celebrated in the city as �Founder�s Day�. The main event would be organised inside the works on Monday. Floral tributes would be paid to the founder and a colourful pageantry at the Tata Steel works main gate would be taken out.

After which pageantry by local organisations, near Food Plaza, Bistupur would be taken out. Cyrus Mistry would flag off the march. Various organisations like DBMS, Kerela Samajam, and Gujarati Sanatan Samaj would participate in the pageantry depicting the contribution of the company to the society.

The city has been decorated with colourful lights and flowers to mark occasion and since it is the centenary year of the steel giant to event is being organised on a large platform.
