Jamshedpur: Jubilee Park, brought alive with a magic button with thousands of fairy lights twinkling in memory of industrialist and visionary Jamshetji Nusserwanji Tata, has become the most sought after destination in the city amidst the Founders Day celebration. People from all walks of life thronged the park in large numbers today to see the magic.
Illumination at Jubilee Park has always been a must-see for thousands of steel city residents. This year, the lights focused on Digital activities of Tata Steel. Lights also brought alive issues of importance such as energy conservation and climate change as well as folk lore from the history of the Tatas.
Behind the bright lights were the nimble fingers and imagination of visualisers and light men from Chandannagar, Bengal. They have been behind the Founders Day show for the past three decades, and this year, they took 45 days to create the magic. One of this years most delightful visual treats was the fountains myriad hues. Working models also caught the attraction of visitors.
As part of the Founders Day celebrations, an exhibition is being held near the Childrens Park of the Jubilee Park. Moreover, Tata Steel and its subsidiary Jusco as part of their initiative to involve masses of other localities are organizing a laser light display on the theme homage to founder at Beldih Lake in Dhatkidih between March 3 and 4 on the occasion of founders day celebration.
Founders Day was first instituted by Tata Steel on March 3, 1932. It was D N Madan, Chief Accountant, Tata Iron and Steel Company, who first conceived the idea of observing and celebrating an annual gathering to commemorate the birth anniversary of J.N. Tata. Founders day provided him with an opportunity of expressing his regard for the memory of the genius to whose faith and adjustment, energy and perseverance, the works, the towns and the environs of Jamshedpur bear enduring witness.
Jubilee Park is equipped with special lighting. Around 52 workers comprising visualisers and light men from Chandannagar, West Bengal joined hands as in earlier years for creating lighting magic throughout the park.
