Former MLA Kamal Kishore Bhagat gets bail

Ranchi, July 2: The Jharkhand High Court today granted bail to former AJSU Party MLA from Lohardaga Kamal Kishore Bhagat and his aide who was sentenced to seven years in prison in a case of attack on a doctor.

Justice Ravi Nath Verma granted bail to Bhagat and A Bodra after hearing a petition moved by the former MLA of AJSU party, a constituent of the state’s ruling NDA.

Both of them would be freed from Jail on Friday. Lower court sentenced them to seven years jail on June 23, 2015 after which his membership was cancelled from Jharkhand Assembly.

The court of Additional Judicial Commissioner Krishna Kumar had on June 23 awarded Bhagat and A Bodra seven years rigorous imprisonment after finding them guilty in the attack on the famous doctor KK SInha and demanding levy in 1993.

On 22 June 2015 the court pronounced them guilty and was sent to jail. Both were found guilty under section of IPC 307,325, 387 and 448.
