Jamshedpur: Former Minister Banna Gupta has written a suggestion letter to the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum, urging comprehensive planning and coordination for Chhath Puja 2025 to ensure the safety and convenience of devotees.

Gupta emphasized that Chhath Mahaparv is deeply rooted in the faith, culture and folk traditions of millions of devotees across the district. “Every year, thousands of devotees gather at various ghats and water bodies for the rituals. Proper pre-arrangements are essential so that worshippers can perform Chhath Puja without inconvenience,” he stated. In his letter, Gupta suggested cleaning and leveling of major ghats, mud and waste removal and effective waste management. He called for proper barricading at crowded areas, adequate lighting through temporary high masts and the deployment of police personnel, home guards, women security staff and divers. He also recommended CCTV or drone surveillance, clean drinking water, temporary public toilets, women’s changing rooms, first-aid centers, ambulances and medical teams. To ensure crowd safety, he proposed traffic management plans, alternate routes and parking zones.

Gupta urged the administration to hold a joint meeting of all concerned departments, including JNAC, power, sanitation, police and transport, “to guarantee smooth and coordinated arrangements for Chhath Puja celebrations this year.”
