Jamshedpur, Nov 20: Shreelal, former Executive President of the JUSCO Workers’ Union and retired employee of JUSCO Horticulture (Park & Garden Department), passed away at 7 am on Thursday at Tata Main Hospital. He was 69.
He had been battling a serious illness for several months. After experiencing discomfort on Thursday morning, he was taken to TMH, where he breathed his last. His cremation will be held at Parvati Burning Ghat at 12 pm tomorrow.
He is survived by his wife, son Sanjay Lal—an employee in the Town Electrical Department—and a daughter. Known for his calm and gentle nature, Shreelal remained associated with workers’ unions until his retirement in 2016.
Former union leaders including S.L. Das, P.N. Singh, Srikant Dev, Manmohan Singh, P.P. Chatterjee, U.K. Pandey, C.K. Biswas, R.N. Sharma, S.K. Sarkar, R.K. Poddar, B.K. Roy, A.K. Sinha and many others expressed deep sorrow at his passing.
