Former Jharkhand Minister Dulal Bhuiyan likely to join BJP

Jamshedpur, Jan 15: Jharkhand’s political landscape is heating up following Raghubar Das’s return to state politics. After prominent leaders like Champai Soren of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), speculation is rife that Dulal Bhuiyan, a senior JMM leader, former minister and three-time Jugsalai MLA, is also set to switch allegiance to the BJP.

Preparations for Bhuiyan’s entry into the BJP are reportedly complete and sources indicate that he could formally join the party within the next couple of days. When asked about the development, Bhuiyan confirmed having discussions with Raghubar Das. “I have spoken to Raghubar Das once or twice. The day he gives the signal, I will join the BJP. Raghubar Das has been an old political colleague and I have worked with him in the past,” Bhuiyan stated.

Bhuiyan also emphasized his readiness to align with the BJP, citing the changing dynamics of Jharkhand’s politics. “With new equations forming in the political landscape, I am prepared to join BJP with my entire team,” he added.

Growing discontent with JMM

Dulal Bhuiyan’s apparent discontent with the JMM seems to stem from the party’s current leadership. “During the time of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, party workers were respected, but now the scenario has changed,” he said, hinting at his dissatisfaction.

Alongside Dulal Bhuiyan, several JMM workers and his son, Biplab Bhuiyan, are expected to join the BJP. Biplab Bhuiyan previously contested the Jugsalai assembly seat as an independent candidate in the last elections.

BJP’s strategy

The BJP’s ongoing efforts to induct influential JMM leaders appear to be part of a larger strategy to strengthen its foothold in Jharkhand. Champai Soren’s recent defection to the BJP has already created ripples and Bhuiyan’s potential switch could further bolster the party’s position.

With multiple discussions already held between Bhuiyan and senior BJP leader Raghuvar Das, the stage seems set for the formal announcement. If Bhuiyan makes the move, it is likely to be accompanied by a significant number of JMM workers and his core team.
