Chaibasa, Oct 19: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda has raised serious concerns over alleged illegal iron ore mining in Noamundi. Addressing a press conference, Koda accused the local administration and mining officials of turning a blind eye to blatant violations.

He revealed that five days ago, he personally intercepted eight heavy-duty trucks, one JCB and one pay-loader involved in illegal mining operations at Noamundi’s Number 5 Colony and promptly informed the local police. However, even after several days, no FIR has been registered.

Koda alleged collusion between the Mining Department, RTO and local administration, claiming that higher-level pressures were being exerted to suppress the case. He pointed out that the mining site was barely 250 meters from the police station, yet the authorities remained inactive—a sign of “administrative apathy and corruption.”

Warning of strong public action, Koda declared, “If justice is denied and the culprits are shielded, we will launch a mass protest. No one will be spared for the plunder of our water, forests and land.”

A memorandum has been submitted to the District Administration and the Superintendent of Police, West Singhbhum, demanding the immediate filing of an FIR and an independent inquiry into the matter. District BJP President Sanjay Pandey and Pratap Katiyar Mahato were also present at the press conference
